How to Apply

Application procedure in the Autumn application round

In Matti Programme the application procedure has two stages in the Autumn application period. On the first round the eligibility to pursue a Doctoral degree is controlled. In order to be eligible for postdoctoral studies in MATTI, you must have an appropriate university degree, typically MPhil or MSc or equivalent foreign degree, that gives you eligibility to pursue a Doctoral degree. A copy of a degree Diploma must be attached to the application and if the degree is from a foreign University, the copy must be a certified true copy and an official translation (if the diploma is not in English, Swedish or Finnish) must be attached.

The first round applications are assessed by the Board of the Matti programme and suitable candidates are permitted to proceed to the second round. The particular assessment criteria is stated in the call for applications in question. The second round application includes the personal study plan, the more elaborated research plan and an agreement on supervision of the studies and a funding plan.

The final decision regarding the study right is made by the Faculty of Science and Engineering concerning students in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology and Computer Sciences and by Turku School of Economics regarding students in Information Systems Science. The second round application form will be sent by e-mail to those accepted in the first round after the Board meeting.

Application procedure in the Spring application round

In the Spring application round there is only one stage. At that stage the applicant has to deliver all the required documents including the personal study plan, research plan and an agreement on supervision of the studies and a funding plan (which in the Autumn round are delivered at the second stage).
