International Partners Week at Higher School of Economics

The HSE International Partners Week brought together over 50 participants who represented 30 universities and educational organizations of 15 countries of Europe, U.S.A., China and Japan, with Aurora project colleagues from Humboldt University (Mr. Stefan Karsch) and Warsaw University (Ms. Katarzyna Kozdra) among them.

The current and prospective partners were invited to take a closer look at HSE, focusing on the existing foundations for developing academic cooperation and potential opportunities for joint capacity building in the future, and participate in the round tables and other formal and informal discussions on broader international mobility issues.

The IPW programme included introduction to HSE’s strategy and internationalization practices at the roundtable discussions on “Building successful partnerships” (with a valuable contribution by Mr. Stefan Karsch on relevant HU experience) and “Comprehensive Internationalisation: Building Support for Global Opportunities” along with presentations of HSE Faculties and Schools at different HSE sites incl. exploration of the HSE international students life at the students dorm.

The participants had a possibility for networking with students, professors, and administrative staff members during the partners week.  HSE students had a great chance to investigate opportunities for international academic mobility in their first-hand conversations with the IPW participants at the HSE Exchange Fair, which was organized as part of the IPW. The presentations of partner universities’ representatives were complemented by experiences and advice of HSE exchange alumni. The Fair hosted representatives of 25 partner universities incl. the Aurora project team members - University of Warsaw and Humboldt University. Several participants used the opportunity to visit HSE’s campuses in St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod.

During this week the international participants not only discussed current issues of cooperation and internationalization with HSE colleagues, and clarified and specified their plans with other partners, and promoted their universities at the International Fair, but also got the feel of the friendly and dynamic environment at HSE as they mentioned in the post-event survey. Their feedback has been carefully considered for planning future IPWs at HSE . HSE welcomes AURORA  partners to its IPWs and will announce the next one early in 2018.
