Call for Contributions

17-18 October 2017 (pre-conference workshops)

Foci

The organisers welcome proposals for individual contributions discussing any historical period and geographical area. Topics might include, but are not limited to: historical social netwoks, policy networks, kinship and community, geospatial networks, cultural and intellectual networks, and methodological innovations. 

Forms of contributions

  1. Posters: Posters can can show on-going projects or present a tool or software. Posters (format A0) will be displayed throughout the conference at the venue site and should be self-explanatory, visually catching, and provide contact information.
  2. Papers: Papers present research results and/or methods, or discuss a theoretical or methodological question. Paper presentations are supposed to take 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for discussion.
  3. "Slush presentations": The conference encourages participants to present ideas, approaches and projects that have started recently. For this purpose, a "slush village" will be organised. A "slush presentation" should be visually oriented, compact presentation seeking to raise the interest of the audience for the topic. Slush presentations are supposed to take 5-10 minutes plus 10 minutes for discussion.
  4. Pre-Conference workshops: Workshops will be organised prior to the conference and each workshop should last 4-6 hours. Proposals should include the workshop’s title and a short description of its topic, contact information of the person/s responsible. They should also include the approximate number of participants and the kind of technical equipment that will be needed. The contact person will be responsible for communicating necessary information to the registered participants. The workshops will be organised in cooperation with the UTUGS, the graduate school of the University of Turku and should also be open for interested doctoral students of the University of Turku.
The language for presentations is English.

Deadline

The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2017.

Selection process

Presentation for the conference will be selected, after peer review, on the basis of abstracts. Notifications of acceptance/rejection will be announced in the second half of May 2017.
