​More coordinated collaboration can provide synergistic advantages for individual groups, researchers, teachers and students.

  •  To bring depth in the collaboration between the core-laboratories in the aspect of fundamental research.

  •  To provide access to common instrument  pool for laboratories and groups involved.

  • To coordinate education in the field of materials research

  • To organize a  credible concentration of material scientists to apply for  large-scale funding from sources like Finnish Academy, TEKES and EU.

  • To promote applied research projects in collaboration with industrial  partners.
