Success story of MID Grantee
​In August 2015 Svitlana Batsyukova, a PhD student from Ukraine, started her EU funded Erasmus Mundus fellowship. Svitlana is hosted by Vilnius University, ranked in the top 3 percent in the world (according to the QS World University Ranking).
Svitlana conducts her PhD research on Advocacy in Society at the Vilnius University Institute of International Relations and Political Science. Besides conducting analysis and interviews, Svitlana has participated and presented at several conferences in the EU. Among them are OSCE 2015 Human Dimension Implementation Meeting, the conference “Security Architecture in CEE: Present threat and Prospects for Cooperation”, and Summer School “'Prospects for Democracy, Stability and Europeanization in Ukraine: What lessons from the Baltic experience?”.
She recently published an article on the competence-based approach in teaching advocacy. She developed another article on connections between advocacy and democratization which is currently under peer review to be published in the Baltic Journal of Political Science.
In 2015, along Polish and Ukrainian experts, Svitlana Batsyukova worked on the book in Polish ‘Ogien Majdanu. Dziennik Rewoluciji’ (‘The Fire of Maidan. The Diary of Revolution’). This book reflected memories of the Euromaidan related events of 2013- 2014 and was presented on Nov 20, 2015 in Warsaw. 
In September -December 2015, Svitlana Batsyukova conducted several interactive seminars at Vilnius University and Lithuanian Pedagogical University, related to the topic of her research.
For the next semester at Vilnius University, Svitlana Batsyukova will teach her own course - Advocacy in Society. The course of 5 ECTS was recently approved by the Institute of International Relations and Political Science and has been included in the academic curriculum.
