Programme outline

We are aiming for three days of stimulating interaction between Nordic researchers working on ecology and evolutionary biology.

You can download the final scheduled program from the link above (minor updates on presenters made 22.1.). This document contains also practical on-site information. You will get a printed version of this document (that includes also a map) in your congress material at registration.

Pre-conference symposium (Monday 1 February 2016):

OIKOS Per Brink thematic symposium on:

(Re-)appreciating the role of life history in eco-evolutionary dynamics

Convenors: Dries Bonte & Dustin Marshall

This symposium hosts seven established scientists who will together present an exciting overview of the many intersections between life history and eco-evo dynamics. The PB symposium is open to all who are registered for the Nordic Oikos meeting. You have the option to register for the PB symposium as part of your registration to the Nordic Oikos conference

The workshop's speakers will be involved in advising PhD student participating in the workshop and will provide feedback throughout the Nordic Oikos conference

 Format of the contributions by conference participants

  • oral presentation (12 + 3 min)
  • poster presentation (poster is 88cm wide, 118cm high). Our intention is to have all posters on display at the conference venue during the whole conference. We will serve refreshments during all poster sessions.
  • part of the persons presenting a poster will be selected to present a 3 min poster pitch to all participants with the possibilty to show 1-3 slides

Panel discussion "Open science"

The "Open science" movement towards open-access publishing, open data repositories etc. concerns us all. There are many stakeholder involved, ranging from the individual researcher to government, scientific societies and publishing houses. We bring together persons representing different stakeholders in a panel discussion on Tuesday 3 February. 

General Assembly

The Nordic Society Oikos will hold its general assembly for members during the conference on Wednesday 3 February 2016. Details can be found here

City reception

Conference participants that pre-registered to the event (up to 200 first) are warmly welcome to join a Get-together party/City Reception on Tuesday evening, 2 February, at the Turku City Hall (Aurakatu 2). The reception is hosted by the City of Turku. A light buffet dinner will be served. For a map of Turku see
