Official business travel authorisation

Authorised travel is taking care of official duties outside of the workplace.

An official business trip starts from the time the employee leaves his/her workplace or place of residence for business until he/she returns from the business travel destination.

Authorisation for business travel is always required. This must be done in good time before travel. At the University of Turku, travel claims of both the university personnel and outside persons, e.g.visiting lecturers, are handled in Personec Travel management system.

Along with the authorisation form, e.g. an invitation or registration form of the seminar or conference must be attached showing e.g. the costs included in the registration fee.

Outside sponsored busness trips

There must always also be official business trip authorisation for outside sponsored or personally paid business trips. The prerequisite of the authorisation is that the trip relates to the official duties of the person and that the acceptance of travel will neither endanger the fairness in the office-holder's duties nor the trust in his/her objectivity.

Travel authorisation without reimbursement

When the university does not pay the expenses, the employee must still apply for permission to be absent from work. In this case, the trip has to be either the provision of information or training for the care of duties or other kinds of work included in the responsibilities of a position at the University of Turku, and it will not in any way affect the normal duties of the person concerned.  In this case the travel type in Travel  is  LM=permission to travel.
