What occupational health care services cover

Occupational health care services include:

  • statutory deterrent occupational health care
  • paid health care coverage by the employer
  • other medical care

Health care comprises of the services of a general practitioner, an occupational health care professional and/or a nurse. A specialist is included in the coverage only in those situations where it becomes a question of the employee's working ability or rehabilitation.

The following types of research are included in the coverage paid by the employer:

  • general practitioner laboratory work
  • general practitioner radiology work
  • clinical physiological work (minimal examinations: such as EKG and EMG)
  • other limited types of research (more details from Medivire)
  • statements about the patient's inability to work or statements about the patient's rehabilative needs or prescription drug reimbursement

Health care does not include examinations where a doctor will treat patients for job applications, a driver's licence, compulsory military service or life insurance.

Vaccinations are included in the scope of health care only in the case where it is work related or if it is for basic immunization. The university will not reimburse the employee for e.g. flu shots or private vaccinations for travel. Coverage by the occupational medical care in basic immunization is for polio, tetanus and diphtheria.
