Application deadline
The deadline for applications for the MAHEVA grants is 15 February 2011. The call is open for applicants in all mobility categories. The online application can be found from the official MAHEVA website.
Special notes
1) The MAHEVA application concerns only the MAHEVA grant, in other words the financing. When applying for the MAHEVA grant through the MAHEVA web site, a candidate is not applying for the right to study at the Host University.
Students can be accepted to the University of Turku as non-degree (=exchange) students or degree students (for completing a degree programme). Getting a study right is necessary for finally receiving the MAHEVA grant.
a) Non-degree (exchange) students apply for a temporary study right (exchange student status) by the 15th of April 2011. For MAHEVA grantees this means that they apply for the financing first (by the 15th of February) and then for the exchange student status in April (see Special information for students below).
b) Master and Doctorate Students applying for MAHEVA financing for studies leading to a degree at the University of Turku must submit a separate application for the right to study in a specific degree programme at the University of Turku. The deadlines for Master's degree programmes taught in English are in January - April 2011 depending on the programme, and for doctoral studies the deadlines vary depending on the Faculty. More information about the application process is available on the University's How to apply website.
2) All students in the current MAHEVA application round are accepted to start their studies in the autumn semester 2011. The selection of grantees is made in April 2011 at earliest. Note that formalities such as the application for residence permit will take at least two months.
3) All grantees are expected to return to their home country after their mobility period. For Master degree students this means that they must return after their first study year (only the first year can be covered by the project) and return to Turku at their own expense to finish their studies.
4) All applicants to Turku must fill in the Language Assessment Sheet (see link above), further instructions given in the form.
5) Special note for applicants at Doctorate, Post-Doctorate and Staff level: When contacting any representative of the University of Turku for the first time, please present your CV and a short summary of your research / academic interests.

Emails
When sending emails please formulate a specific "Subject:" of your message that would allow us to identify the objective of your email. You yourself should be easily identifiable from the "From:" field. Please avoid subjects that are too generic, and therefore useless to identify the content. Never send messages without a "Subject" - they have a larger probability to be rejected by antispam software installed on most of email servers.
