JOO-Studies

A student at the University of Turku can complete studies for their degree at another Finnish university and vice versa. JOO-studies are free of charge. Detailed information on flexible study rights is available on the JOOPAS webpages (currently in Finnish, Swedish and partially in English) along with instructions and the application form in English. In order to log in, you need to have a current University of Turku user ID and password.

The following Finnish universities use the electronic application form for JOO-studies:

  • Lappeenranta University of Technology
  • National Defence University
  • Sibelius Academy
  • Tampere University of Technology
  • University of Eastern Finland
  • University of Helsinki
  • University of Jyväskylä *
  • University of Oulu *
  • University of Tampere
  • University of Turku
  • University of Vaasa
  • Åbo Akademi University

*) University of Jyväskylä and Univeristy of Oulu will use electronical application form only until 31.12.2010.

Students of the University of Turku may apply for the abovementioned universities electronically. A paper application form is needed for universities not mentioned in the list above (Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, Sibelius Academy, Theatre Academy and the University of Lapland). Students from the above mentioned list of universities may apply for the University of Turku electronically, and those from other universities must also use a paper form.

Students must be registered as attending at their home university in order to apply for the JOO study right and to study at another university. In general, studies included in the JOO agreement scheme are those that are not being offered at the student's home university in Finland. JOO-studies need to be approved by the student's Finnish home university. After this, the application is sent to the host university, which makes the final decision about approving the student's plans.
