Studies at Åbo Akademi and Polytechnics
Cooperation with the Åbo Akademi University and Polytechnics in Turku gives incoming exchange students an opportunity to take some of their studies at the other institutions in Turku. However, at least 50% of your studies must be carried out at the University of Turku. The access to the courses in other institutions is limited, so it is always best to choose majority of the courses at the University of Turku.
Åbo Akademi University
If you wish to take courses from Åbo Akademi University, you need to apply separately for a right to participate to the courses well in advance. The deadlines for courses are:
- courses taking place in Autumn Semester is end of May (31.5.)
- courses taking place in Spring Semester October 15.
Please note that some restrictions apply; students must fulfil the prerequisites of the programmes and there must be places available in the courses.
This means that it is not possible to apply for courses of Autumn semester in Autumn or for courses of spring semester in Spring! Changes to the courses you have already applied to are possible, though.
The application for the courses in Åbo Akademi happens by sending an e-mail to University of Turku’s International Office: incoming[at]utu.fi.

The staff of the International Office will forward your e-mail to the International office at Åbo Akademi University. You will receive an email concerning the outcome of your application.

NB. You have to always apply to Åbo Akademi’s courses as described above. Going to courses without doing so or contacting teachers directly is not allowed due to limited places for exchange students. |
Polytechnics in Turku
If you wish to take courses at some Polytechnic in Turku you have to return a JOO-application form (below) and your Transcript of Records to the UTU’s International Office. The number of available places is limited so you should have a good reason to select courses outside University of Turku.

The staff of the International Office will review your application and forward it to the Polytechnic concerned. You will then receive an email from the Polytechnic concerning the outcome of your application.
