Have you been accepted to the University of Turku as a Degree Student?
Here is a checklist of the things which you should take care of before arriving and also a few practical tips for your stay. Follow the links on the right to get more information.
-
You will receive a Welcome Package of the University of Turku which will include an official letter of acceptance and important information about other matters e.g. housing. Please contact the programme you applied for if you have not heard about the status of your application well past the application deadline date.
- If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen, check well in advance whether you need a visa in addition to student residence and apply for one at the nearest Finnish Embassy or Consulate in your home country. This is for the initial permit. Student residence can be renewed locally at the Police Station at Eerikinkatu 40-42. You should give at least one month's time for renewal before your residence permit expires. Check the Police website for more information. EU/EEA citizens may apply for student residency at the local police station upon arrival in Turku.
-
Apply for housing. You should do this at least six weeks before your arrival. Student housing in Turku is provided by the Student Village Foundation. Please note that the university is not responsible for your accommodation.
-
Make and book your travel arrangements. You should arrive in time for the Orientation Course which is organised at the beginning of autumn semester.
- Non-EU/EEA citizens are required to have health insurance before arrival. It is advisable to look into travel insurance as well.
-
Contact your personal student tutor well in advance. After arrival, it's also worth it to join the the mailing lists to get the latest news on events and activities for degree students.
