Studying abroad
International degree students of the University of Turku leaving for an exchange
The University of Turku aims at having an average of 450 students per academic year spend at least three months on an exchange. The university takes part in a number of international exchange programmes as well as bilateral exchange agreements with higher educational institutions. Furthermore, there are grants for studying abroad available for application each year, for students to use for completing creditable studies towards a degree at the University of Turku.
International Master's degree students, and in certain cases postgraduate students, are eligible to apply for an exchange period abroad. The University of Turku has two Master's degree programmes which require a study abroad period (Baltic Sea Region Studies and European Heritage, Digital Media & the Information Society) and some where it is recommended (Asian Studies and Learning, Learning Environments and Educational Systems). The basic requirement is that all studies abroad must be accepted as trasferrable towards a degree at the University of Turku. Application for studying abroad usually ends in February or March. In some cases, other application deadlines may end in autumn. Students should be aware of their own faculty's international exchange programmes via their websites.
