Student exchange
Students may leave for an exchange to a university which has a formal agreement with the University of Turku. You may leave for an exchange so long as the University of Turku or your department or faculty has an agreement with the receiving institution. Furthermore, the studies in your study plan must be transferable towards a degree at the University of Turku. If you want to study abroad at a university which does not have a contract with the Univeristy of Turku, you may do so, but without any benefits that comes with being an exchange student.
There are several types of exchange agreements. In Europe, Erasmus and Coimbra-group exchanges are the most common. There are many bilateral agreements between the University of Turku and foreign institutions overseas. Students can also acquire a study place/internship themself and apply for general grant to cover some of the costs. There are also exchange programmes such as ISEP, north2north and JoinEU-SEE-scholarships for specific countries/regions. Please see more information here.
