How to make sure that all my credits will be recorded in my Final Transcript?
When will I earn credits?
You will earn credits for the courses you have completed. It usually means that in addition to participating in lectures, you must have completed all required assignments e.g. an exam or an essay at the end of the course. The instructor of the course will inform you about the mode of assessment.
If you have been accepted to study at the University of Turku for the academic year or for the Spring Semester, your study right is valid until 31 July. If you have been accepted for the Autumn Semester, the study right is only valid until 31 December. Assignments must be submitted to your instructors before this date. Otherwise your grade will not be recorded in the study register and will not appear on the Final Transcript.
Please remember that all the written tasks should be handed in before you leave in order to ensure that all your credits are included into the Final Transcript. Teachers are not obliged to read any late work. Furthermore, credits cannot be entered to the study register after your study right expires (on 1.8. or 31.12.).
How to check my credits in the study register?
Check your credits and grades carefully every now and then, this will help you to receive the Final Transcript sooner.
An unofficial electronic transcript is available from the NettiOpsu online service.
- Login with your university user ID and email password.
- Change the NettiOpsu language into English in order to see your course credits in English.
- You can also download the transcript in PDF format.
You may request an official transcript at the departmental secretary, Faculty Office, International Office or Student Services Office.
When will the credits appear in my transcript?
Course grades and credits are normally registered within two weeks from the date of the exam or the submitted assignments' deadline. Incomplete or failed courses will not be registered or shown in the Transcript of Records. If you take courses from Åbo Akademi University, you should be aware of their own regulations for courses and credits.
If there are any grades and credits missing even after the two week time period you should contact the course instructor. Please note that courses offered by Åbo Akademi University will not be seen in the University of Turku study register. They will appear in your Final Transcript if you have filled them into your Course Card.
If you are leaving Finland before some of your grades have been published (e.g. an exam or essay at the end of the semester), make sure that all available information about the course has been written in the Course Card: course title, course code, instructor, date of exam, grade (if known) and the credit amount. This way the International Office will be able ensure that the grades and courses will be in the Final Transcript of Records. Please note, that you do not need to collect signatures of the instructors on the Course Card, you can just write their name there by yourself.
What is the Final Transcript?
The Final Transcript should include all the completed courses you have taken during your stay in Turku. It includes also the courses you have taken from Åbo Akademi University.
To request the Final Transcript, you must return the completed Course Card to the International Office before you leave Turku.
After you have left Turku, the official Final Transcript of Records will be sent to you or to your home addess or home university by post.
What about the courses taken at ÅAU?
If you have taken courses at Åbo Akademi University, you must add them into your Course Card by yourself, otherwise the grades and courses might not appear in the Final Transcript of the University of Turku.
When will I receive my Final Transcript?
As soon as all your courses are registered. Please allow some time for the preparing and posting of the Final Transcript of Records.
Any questions should be sent to the International Advisors: international@utu.fi.
