Student Cafeterias and Lunch Restaurants
In Finland, eating out is fairly expensive. However, students can eat subsidised student meals at the student cafeterias. The state subsidises a part of the cost of each student lunch.
There are usually two kinds of lunches: the so-called ”lunch portion” and the so-called ”light alternative”. The price of the student lunch is 2,60€ and lunch includes: portion of food, glass of drink, salad and bread. In order to get this student lunch, you need a Finnish Student Identification Card.
Without the student card the price of the lunch is around 4,50-6,20€.
Some cafeterias also include Deli-dishes in their menus which usually cost around 3,5-5,5€ for students.
