​Student Organisations - the student life in Turku can and should be a lot of fun!

There are many student clubs and organisations within each department or faculty which arrange seminars, social events and excursions. For complete information and contact information about sub-organisations on student union webpages.


Erasmus Student Network  is an international student organisation active in 35 countries. It aims to help international students during their stay in another country. ESN sections in Turku organise a wide range of activities for international students throughout the academic year. The sections aim to make all international students feel welcome and offer them unique Finnish experiences such as ski and skating events, sauna evenings, trips to neighbouring countries and parties. ISTU - International Students of Turku Universities

A joint network of the Student Unions of Turku/Åbo Universities organises activities for degree students from free-time activities and pub-evenings to discussions on issues  concerning degree students’ academic affairs. Religious Communities

The Turku Cathedral International Congregation is an international congregation; formed of people of all ages who have moved to Finland from other parts of the world. The services are usually Lutheran and once a month Anglican. The members of the congregation represent a variety of churches.
Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) (Turun NNKY), Vähä-Hämeenkatu/Lilla Tavastgatan 12 A. This association arranges Host Family Programs for international students, among other things.

Sexual Minorities

Sexual Equality association (SETA) is a nationwide association for sexual minorities. Turun Seudun Seta is the local association.
Homoglobiini is an organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered students in Turku. Homoglobiini has members studying at the Universities in Turku. Homoglobiini organises a multitude of free time activities, such as parties, excursions, trips and cultural events.
