Change your password at https://idm.utu.fi

  • Click In English 
  • Change password
  • In English
  • Log in with UTU account: your username and password
  • After login type your current password and new password twice and press Done
  • Notice! Wait about 10 minutes after you have changed the password before logging in to services because there is a synchronization delay.

Renew your password with online banking credentials

Requirements:
  • Finnish Person number (social security number before) in IdM and in the bank information
  • Online banking credentials or mobile ID / certificate (http://www.mobiilivarmenne.fi/en/)
  • We recommend using Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer (functionality not guaranteed on other browsers)
How to change:
  • On the page https://idm.utu.fi (In English) there's a link "Reset your password. Log in with online banking credentials"
  • Next, select Bank identification and select the logo of your bank (or use mobile certificate)
  • Log on to your bank pages with online banking credentials
  • After a valid identification, click on "Continue to service"
  • Type your new password twice.
  • Notice! Wait about 10 minutes after you have changed the password before logging in to services because there is a synchronization delay.

Renew your password at IT Service Desk visiting there personally or using power of attorney

  • You can get a new password by visiting an IT Service desk
  • You need to have official ID card, driving license (with picture), passport or KELA card with picture (no new card orders from KELA). A Student card is not valid for identification. In any circumstances we will not deliver new passwords via e-mail or phone.
  • If you don't live in Turku it's possible to get your new password delivered to a co-operating university IT helpdesk. Send a request to helpdesk@utu.fi and give the needed information: your full name, your UTU account name (not old password) and you present location. Delivering the password through mail will take several days. You can retrieve the password personally by proving your identity with a valid ID.
  • You can authorize a trusted person to retrieve your password by having a signed power of attorney clarified by two people. Power of attorney will be stored in the IT Services archive for the security reasons.
    Notice! An authorized person can only retrieve and deliver password to you. He/she must not see or use it in any way.  You can use power of attorney form provided below:

The criteria for a password

  • The password should be between 10-16 characters (recommended). It's possible set your password to be longer than 16 characters but it'll not be compatible with all of our systems.
  • The password has to have three type of characters: small letters, big letters and numbers.
  • Using special characters e.g. % or Scandinavian (national special vocal characters) e.g. å,ä,ö is not recommended. These might cause compatibility issues in some services.
  • The password must not contain your first name, last name or user account name
  • The password must not be too close to your previous password
  • The password must not be same than one of your 4 last passwords
  • It is recommended that you use the browsers Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer to change your password
