Studying Translation and Interpreting
The structure of the studies is the following:
I Theory and research studies (15 ECTS)
  • The translator's role in professional contexts (5 ECTS)
  • Translation Studies lecture course (5 ECTS)
  • Translation Studies Methodology (5 ECTS)
II Translation and interpreting competences (40 ECTS)
  • Translation in Practice I, L2 - L1 (5 ECTS)
  • Translation in Practice II, L1 - L2 (5 ECTS)
  • Language Technology and Translation Tools (5 ECTS)
  • Multilingual Translation Workshop I (10 ECTS)
  • Multilingual Translation Workshop II (10 ECTS)
  • Language Maintenance in Finnish (5 ECTS)
III Elective courses (20 ECTS)
The selection varies yearly, also depending on the language pair, but includes:
  • The history of Translation (5 ECTS)
  • Audiovisual Translation (5 ECTS)
  • Basics of Interpreting (5 ECTS)
  • Localisation (5 ECTS)
IV Research 45 ECTS
  • Master's Thesis Seminar (5 ECTS)
  • Master's Thesis (40 ECTS)
