European Law

European law concentrates on the law of the European Union and on the protection of fundamental rights under the European Convention. Core areas of teaching include the structure, sources, and specific features of EU law, as well as the principles defining the relationship between EU law, international law, and the law of the Member States. The institutional structure of the EU, legal remedies, and the status of fundamental rights in the European integration processes are also emphasized in the teaching. Furthermore, an overall picture of internal market law and competition law is provided for in the curriculum.

The research of European law is many-sided and conducted by several researchers. It concentrates on the general principles of EU law, internal market and competition law, European constitutionalism, external relations, European intellectual property, and information law.
