RNA- or trauma -mediated gene regulation

​Description of Research

Our research focuses on the mechanisms involved in short regulatory RNA physiology. These molecules (siRNAs, shRNAs, microRNAs) modulate gene expression, thus affecting not only differentiation and developmental maturation of cells and organ systems, but also tissue healing after trauma. We aim to understand, how differentiation of individual cell types could experimentally be regulated. We are also interested in learning how miRNAs are involved in tissue healing after trauma.

In the BAAC study (Biological Assessment of Acute Concussions) we study the use of mi-croRNA and metabolomics assays in the evaluation of contact sport –induced concussions in athletes.

In the Entesophyte project we study the causes and consequences of calcific spur formation at the Achilles tendon - bone insertion

In the EUROCLAST project we study the extensive vesicular trafficking in bone-resorbing osteoclasts
