Research Centre of Applied and Preventive Cardiovascular Medicine (CAPC) is an independent Unit of the Medical Faculty, University of Turku, and is headed by the Administrative Board and Director.
The Centre is primarily a scientific research establishment for clinical and experimental studies in the area of prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. One of its main research aims is also focused on the pathophysiological mechanisms of cardiorespiratory diseases and the application of the results to clinical use. The Centre is further responsible for teaching respiratory and cardiovascular physiology to students of medicine and it participates also in education of young scientists and PhD students.
The Centre has a strong research and education tradition, and in addition to the regular staff there are more than 20 research workers representing various branches of medicine. The Centre provides for its researchers an extensive basic knowledge background and opportunity for innovative and multicultural scientific work.
