Student selection and a quota
In the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Nursing Science students can complete the degrees of Bachelor and Master of Health Sciences (Nursing Science). Students are selected via entrance exam into the both degrees (based on settings of the government 794/2004 and 1039/2013). In the Department of Nursing science there will be 45 places for new students for the Bachelor and Master degrees available, annual.
Teaching schedule
Teaching is carried out as it is ruled in the University’s plan. Teaching is arranged in order to enable the most effective and appropriate progress for the students.
Practical training
Practical training is part of the Clinical/Older people/Mental health oriented Nursing Science education as well as a part of health administration and management oriented education. Practical training takes a place during the second spring semester or third autumn semester and it is usually carried out in health care research or developing organizations. Practical training in the Didactics oriented Nursing Sciences is carried out during three semesters in different health educational academies or service systems. Training is based on different contracts made with the training place and other participants involved.
International practical training
In all of these specialized study areas (didactics and clinical/older people/mental health or health administration and management oriented areas), the practical training can be carried out as an international training as well. Administration and management area’s training can be carried out in Barcelona, Lithuania, Klaipeda State College or in the University of Klaipeda.
Diploma and graduation
Secretary of Nursing Sciences saves all the modules and courses to student’s personal study register. After student has completed all the compulsory courses and those are in the register the diploma can be written. Courses will be referred to the register and after that the diploma will be sent to the secretary of the Faculty where the official Diploma will be written.
Ensurance of curriculum coverage
The coverage of curriculum will be ensured before board meeting with following methods:
  • Preparation in staff meetings (responsible vice head of the department)
  • Hearing in Health sciences graduate degrees planning committee where is representatives of students, working life and university teachers
  • Hearing in student organization Adaptus meeting
  • Collection of feedback of single study modules and in annual Feedback day
  • Feedback from practical training representatives and mentors of practical training in collaboration meetings
