Department of Biochemistry at University of Turku offers versatile, high-quality academic graduate and post-graduate education and produces internationally recognized scientific research.
Department of Biochemistry is one of the largest independent administrative education and research units of the University of Turku. Department educates experts in fields of natural sciences and technology. In parallel to teaching is extensive basic and applied research.
The key assets in the function of the department are diverse scientific know-how, specialization and strong networking. The department co-operates with domestic and foreign universities and research groups. Industry and commerce are important partners in the applications and commercialization of research results. The research at the department is mainly carried out by external, supplementary research funding. Among other research projects, there is for example an Academy of Finland’s Center of Excellence coordinated at the department.
The department consists of four parallel disciplines, which form a diverse entirety where areas of specialization support and complete each other both in education and research.
