Turun Yliopiston Kemistit TYK ry

Turun Yliopiston Kemistit TYK ry (Chemists of the University of Turku) is a student organization for chemistry and biochemistry students. It's founded in 1935 and so it is the oldest student organization of Univesity of Turku. The organization monitors the interests of its members and organizes various activities independently as well as in collaboration with other student organizations. Activities varies from parties, sports and excursions to board game and sauna evenings as well as academic annual celebrations.

The organization has an office in the cellar of Arcanum ehich also serves as a
break room for students. The office also offers computers, coffee maker and old exam archive etc. for the members. Also fabric patches, lecture materials and tickets for activities are sold in the office hours. In autumn there are also
orders for student overalls and labcoats.

The organization has its own education policy responsibles for both chemistry and biochemistry, who take care the study smoothnes. TYK ry members are also associated in Univertsity's and TYY's administration groups.

Nucleus ry

Nucleus ry is the student organization for the students of biotechnical engineering and food development. Nucleus was established in 2008, when the degree programme in Engineering in biotechnology first started at University of Turku.

Nucleus represents it’s members and helps its’ members at issues related to studies. For this there is a member in Nucleus’ board and Nucleus also has its’ representatives at different governing bodies of university and student’s union.

Nucleus organizes variety of spare time activities e.g. parties, sports and cultural excursions. Many of the events are organized with other student organizations at Turku University but we have cooperation also with students in other cities. Nucleus has its’ office at Biocity floor -2 and during the daytime Nucleus’ members can use it.
