Laboratory of Quantum Optics

Main research topics of the laboratory are physics of laser cooled atoms and Bose-Einstein condensate, and quantum information. Research is mainly theoretical but it is closely related to experimental work on this field.

In Autumn 2012 the laboratory got a new quantum optical source by which special two photon superposition states, polarisation entangled photons pairs, can be produced. First this device will be used mainly for educational purposes but later also in research work.

Research projects of the laboratory are part of  Turku Centre for Quantum Physics
