Turku Center for Welfare Research was founded in 1997 as a cooperative effort by the two universities of Turku (Åbo). The participants in TCWR are economic sociology, social policy and sociology at the University of Turku, and economics and statistics at Åbo Akademi University. The Center is intended to more efficiently coordinate resources both in teaching and research, within the area of welfare, well-being and equality. It has an important role in facilitating joint research projects and researcher-oriented courses.
A central part of the collaboration is regular and open welfare research seminars, organized every second Friday: please see the seminar program.
