Bias in spatial perception and executive functions

 GOAL :

Lateralization of our neural mechanisms for attention and related spatial perception favor the right perceptual space. This is most evident for children and elderly, but also for young adults when being tired and under cognitive strain. We have proposed that the age-dependency and other factors reflect the efficacy of the executive functions (cognitive control) developing slowly and declining in aging. The relevance of these phenomena in traffic behavior especially in the elderly remains to be studied. A laboratory setting with driving simulator is under construction.
