GOAL:
Increasing body of evidence points towards disorders of sleep and wakefulness having a marked impact on health and work performance. The goal of the group is to understand mechanisms and disorders of mind and body in a wide context, including control of physiological phenomena, various disorders, and functions of the brain. We use alterations in the level of consciousness and between wakefulness and sleep as a model that enables research into “mind” and control of vital functions such as breathing or endothelial function. Successful research will produce new insight to mental and physiological processes and possibilities to treat common disorders.
