Steven Vallas is the professor of Sociology in the Northeastern University, College of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Professor Steven Vallas is internationally renowned of his comprehensive books and publications in the field of sociology of work. He has published several world-known books and articles, including much cited Work: A Critique (Polity 2012). He is currently working on research on ethnography. Professor Vallas’ work also includes studies on social stratification and mobility and knowledge economy. Steven Vallas has been awarded with ASA/NSF Award, Fund for the Advancement of the Discipline grant in 2011 and he has been nominated as Elected Chair of Organizations, Occupations, and Work (OOW) section of American Sociological Association in 2011-2012.  He is distinguished member of several international associations, including American Sociological Association, Southern Sociological Society and Society for the Study of Social Problems. Steven Vallas has served as member of the Publications Committee of American Sociological Association in 2011-2013.
