About accounting and finance

Accounting and finance is the largest subject in the Turku School of Economics by several indicators (i.e. number of majoring students, number of completed Master’s theses and the amount of academic credits). Annually about 75 new students choose accounting and finance as their major subject. At the moment our staff consist of:

  • Four professors
  • Four postdoctoral research fellows
  • One university research fellow
  • Four lecturers
  • Seven doctoral students
  • One research assistant
  • Six docents
  • About 10 visiting lecturers
  • Departmental coordinator and an educational and research secretary

The subject of accounting and finance is well networked both to the academic community as well as to business life both domestically and internationally. Several visitors from foreign universities visit the department of accounting and finance every year participating in research projects and lecturing courses. Besides the staff, the subject of accounting and finance has also promoted several honorary doctorates. The most recent honorary doctorate was promoted in 2013. The staff of accounting and finance also participates actively in international conferences. Also several members of our staff function in review and editorial positions in respected international academic journals.

The subject of accounting and finance annually publishes an annual report that contains for example review of the past year, introduction of the staff, information about publications and ongoing research projects.
