Distribution

The dissertation must be published no later than 10 days before the defence, by 12.00 (or later if the faculty dean has granted an extension for publishing; the decision on an extension must, in this case, be brought to the attention of Student Services by the deadline in question). Publishing means that the defendant furnishes the dissertation to the university.

Digitally published dissertations must be submitted to the university library according to specific guidelines. Furthermore, three printed copies must be provided for filing: that is, one for the library, one for the faculty and a third for Student Services.

The number of copies of the dissertation, either both digital and printed or only printed, to be published is shown according to appendix 1.

Distribution of a printed dissertation

If the dissertation will be printed only, 50 copies must be provided to the university. There may be no reserved copies of any dissertation, neither beforehand nor on the first two days of distribution. Dissertations are distributed at Student Services or the faculty offices upon receipt.

Dissertations of the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences are brought to: Student Services, FI-20014 Turun yliopisto. Opening hours Mon-Fri 10.00-14.00, during summer 12.00-14.00. Visiting address: Main Building, ground floor.

Defendants at other faculties:

Faculty of Medicine: The Medsiina switchboard takes care of distribution, Kiinamyllynkatu 10

Faculty of Law: Dissertations are distributed at the faculty office at Calonia

Faculty of Education: Dissertations are brought to and distributed at the attendant's desk at Educarium

Faculty of Social Sciences: Dissertations are submitted to the faculty office and distributed at the attendant's desk at Publicum

Opponent and custos

One book is to be reserved for the opponent and one for the custos. At some subject departments, the defendant is required to provide copies to others, in addition to the aforementioned recipients. The custos can provide information on this matter.
