Developing quality assurance of higher education curriculum planning in Finland and Russia

The University of Turku coordinated 2007-2009 a project on developing quality assurance of curriculum planning in Finland and Russia. The purpose of the project was to facilitate student mobility between the two countries, and to improve the quality assurance of degrees. The project was financed by the Finnish Ministry of Education.

On 17–19 November 2009, the University of Turku organised in cooperation with CIMO and the Association of Vice-rectors for International Relations in St. Petersburg the 7th Seminar on Cooperation between Russian and Finnish Institutions of Higher Education in Turku. The event included a session on quality assurance of higher education, and was also the concluding seminar for the project.

During the project, a Quality Handbook of Higher Education in Finland and Russia was prepared. The handbook includes descriptions of higher education systems in both countries, the frameworks in which they function, degree systems, quality assurance of degrees, the processes of curriculum development and quality assurance, as well as student mobility processes. In addition to general descriptions, the handbook introduces some case studies more profoundly.
