The Opening Ceremony

The Opening Carnival at the University Hill begins the opening day at 12 pm.

The programme of the Opening Carnival consists of awarding the teacher and the course of the year, the Rector's greeting, music etc.

At the info stands, it is possible to meet members from the sub-organisations of the Student Union of the University of Turku, to hear about hobby alternatives and the services on campus. More information.

The official Opening Ceremony begins with a service in the Turku Cathedral at 3.15 pm. Then, the opening celebration will continue in the Main Building of the University.

The programme consists of speeches and music. Traditionally, the Rector will give a speech in which the focus areas of operations and challenges of the coming academic year are outlined.

Please note that registration for the opening celebration in the Main Building will be requested in advance.

The Ceremony is directed to the whole university community, students and staff, and more detailed instructions on the online registration will be published on Intranet in August. Guests of honour will receive invitations to the Opening Ceremony by mail.
