Faculty of Medicine and FINDOS-Turku (Finnish Doctoral Program in Oral Sciences in Turku) opens the position of

Doctoral Program Coordinator (part-time 50%)

for a 1,5-year period strating from August 2014 to December 31st 2015. The vacancy will possibly continue  after this period.

The coordinator’s position will include e.g. the following responsibilities:

  • Organisation of the selection procedures of candidates applied for the rights to pursue  doctoral  degree and those for salaried doctoral candidate positions
  • Taking care of the regular contacts between the universities, research groups, tutors, supervisors and doctoral candidates participating in the operation of FINDOS Turku
  • Arranging the despatching of the research plans and annual research reports by the graduate students
  • Arranging of the exams
  • Planning, announcing and organisation of the national and international training events of FINDOS Turku
  • Keeping contacts with the national and foreign partners
  • Maintaining contact and collaboration with other domestic and foreign doctoral programs and with Faculty of Medicine and University of Turku Graduate School as well as coordination of joint teaching and training
  • Arranging the practical training periods of the graduate students in the commercial enterprises participating in the operation of FINDOS Turku
  • Preparing grant applications
  • Maintaining the FINDOS-Turku websites

The FINDOS Turku coordinator will work together with the chair and  the board of the doctoral program, the coordinator will be responsible of the operative activity of the doctoral program.

The person to be appointed as the coordinator should be capable for working  independently , be  excellent in communication skills, have an applicable higher academic degree (DDS, MSc, or  MD), as well as be  fluent in Finnish and English language. Experience in relevant  previous positions will be regarded as an asset, as will be  a PhD degree in a relevant field.

The salary will be 50 % of the full time position. The full time position is determined in accordance with the university salary system for other personnel level 9 on the job demands chart, where the task-specific salary component is  2 845,09 euros per month. In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid. The personal work performance component is a maximum of 46.3 % of the task-specific salary component.

Degree certificate and CV, list of publications, short (max 2 pages) description of own research and how it relates to the field of the doctoral program as well as copies of  possible other documents that the applicant wants to appeal to should be enclosed to the application.
