Summer School 2015

Summer School:

“Futures Studies Tackling Wicked Problems with creativity and wisdom” for Master level students is held in Turku between 9–12 June 2015

Summer School consists of two parts to students:
The course requirements for 5 ECTS are
  • Preliminary readings (a collection of articles delivered to all enrolled), exercises and preparation for lecture work shop
  • Active participation in summer school (lectures and exercises)
  • Participation in the conference
  • Reflective learning diary (10–15 pages) eflective learning diary (10–15 pages)
The course assignment is a reflective learning diary (10–15 pages).
The learning diary;  Reflect lectures and exercises to the summer school themes and to your previous studies (epistemological and ontological basis of futures studies). Reflective diary is not a description, but an critical and academic reflection.  This kind of questions can get you started: What were your initial thoughts of the topic? How did exercises help you to understand summer school themes?  Did you find conference lectures useful for understanding the future of the theme? What did you learn? What were your thoughts after the summer school? Remember to use also literature and other materials, not only your notes.
Intended learning outcomes; to get to know futures community (e.g. researchers, customers and users of futures knowledge, peer students), to deepen core competencies in FS such as  scenario thinking, tools to analyze continuities, discontinuities and critical uncertainties and systems thinking. This year the focus is mainly on futures consciousness and quality criteria of foresight.
