Webinar Global Goodness - Discussions on Global Business Ethics: Values of foreign policy

WHEN 1 June 2021 at 2.00 - 3.00pm

Where Zoom

Foreign policy is an acid test of values. We can wax poetic about the shared values of the world community, but practical foreign policy reveals our actual values. What are the idealistic and realistic positions in current foreign policy? Will future societies be democratic or autocratic? What happens to the rule of law? Can we agree on the goals and methods of promoting sustainable development?

What do we need to know about the values and guidelines of China's foreign policy? How does ancient Chinese philosophy influence present-day thinking?

Can international value-based cooperation tackle the dark side of business, ethical problems like corruption, human rights violations, human trafficking, modern-day slavery, and money laundering?

Is there a hopeful vision for the future that we tend to overlook? Philosopher, Professor of Practice at Turku School of Economics Maija-Riitta Ollila will discuss the topics with leading specialists in their fields:

Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland

Senior Research Fellow Jyrki Kallio, Finnish Institute of International Affairs FIIA

Professor of International Business, Vice Dean Niina Nummela, Turku School of Economics, University of Turku.
