The Kerttu Saalasti award was announced at the Kerttu Saalasti Seminar on 19th September. The Award is given annually for a significant achievement in research, education or social influence that promotes micro-entrepreneurship or entrepreneurial culture. The award is jointly given by the Kerttu Saalasti Foundation and the University of Oulu's Kerttu Saalasti Institute. This year, the award went to Ulla Hytti, professor of entrepreneurship at the University of Turku and the president of ECSB, a European organization of entrepreneurship researchers.

"Professor Ulla Hytti has been working on entrepreneurship research since 1996. As a high-level entrepreneurship researcher, she has strongly promoted micro-entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial culture, especially in the field of entrepreneurship education regionally, nationally and internationally," said Matti Muhos, the director of the Kerttu Saalasti Institute.
