Finnish Culture at the International Summer School

Participants of the International Summer School of the University of Turku get to experience the Finnish way of life. The School is a unique combination of various lectures, social events and guidance on practical issues.

​Mölkky, sort of outdoor bowling, is a traditional and popular summer game in Finland. Players try to knock over the wooden bricks.

​During August, students, graduates, scholars and experts from all over the world are studying at the International Summer School in Turku. It is aimed at anyone, who is interested in the Finnish language, culture and history.

Courses of the International Summer School offer a multi-dimensional representation of the Finnish society and culture and basic knowledge of the Finnish language.

After the day’s intensive studying, participants are introduced to Finnish cultural activities. There is a versatile programme of social activities during the evenings and weekends, everything from traditional baking to sports, museums and nature trips.

Although this year, the summer has been exceptionally warm and sunny, in it was raining when a group visited the Seili island.
