Health Officials Urge Student Organisations to Restrict the Organisation of Events

There have been several coronavirus infections and suspected exposures among students of higher education institutions in Turku.

The authorities responsible for communicable diseases urge student organisations to restrict the organisation of events during the next two weeks (14–27 Sept) in order to prevent further exposures. The Student Union of the University of Turku also urges student organisations to refrain from organising events for the time being.

In the last few days, coronavirus infections have been confirmed among students at the higher education institutions in Turku. The possible exposures continue to be investigated by the authorities responsible for communicable diseases and they will contact those who have been exposed to the virus.

In order to prevent possible exposures, e.g. Turku School of Economics has decided to switch to remote teaching also for new students for the next two weeks.

You can check your symptoms in the Omaolo online service or contact the health service of your home municipality for an assessment. Those living in Turku can contact the coronavirus helpline. (tel. +358 2 266 2714, Mon-Fri between 8am–3pm).

Health officials urge to take a coronavirus test if you have even mild symptoms of the disease.

The University of Turku follows the situation and updates its instructions on the coronavirus situation if necessary.
