Important Entrance Exam Spring Ahead – Let’s Work Together to Prevent Coronavirus Infections

A majority of the entrance exams of universities and universities of applied sciences are organised in May–June. Universities, higher education institutions, and student organisations are appealing together to everyone in Finland that people would observe the current coronavirus restrictions and the general instructions for protection against the coronavirus by the National Institute for Health and Welfare. 

The entrance examinations of universities and universities of applied science this spring are approaching. Universities, universities of applied science, and student organisations published an appeal on 10 May which highlights the need for team spirit. Everyone in the society must work together and follow the strict preventive measures against the coronavirus in order for the applicants to stay healthy and entrance exams to be successful.

– By acting responsibly together, we can contribute to ensuring that the epidemic situation does not get worse and that the applicants are able to focus on the examinations, states the appeal.

Safety of the Entrance Exams Ensured at the University of Turku

The University of Turku received a record number of applicants in the joint application round this year. Based on a joint decision by all Finnish universities, entrance examinations will be held as physical events this year.

The University of Turku organises the entrance exams in the University's facilities, Turku Fair Center, and tents set up on campus. 

– We monitor the development of the coronavirus situation closely and ensure the safe realisation of the entrance exams. The diverse facility arrangements and careful responsibility make safe entrance exams possible for the applicants and supervisors as well as other staff members helping to organise the events, says Vice Rector responsible for education Piia Björn from the University of Turku.

The first entrance exam at the University of Turku will be organised for health sciences on Tuesday, 18 May and the last exams for media, music and arts on Thursday, 10 June.
