Painted by artist, portrait painter Timo Vuorikoski, the portrait was revealed in the Medisiina D building of the University of Turku on 23 May 2019.
Kalervo Väänänen’s term as the Rector ends at the end of July. He has been the Rector of the University of Turku since 2012. During his term, the number of the University’s publications and the assessed quality have increased. In addition, education has been developed significantly.
According to Väänänen, universities have a central role in building an ecological society and treasuring education.
