Lina Daouk-Öyry visits International Business

30.09.2024

IB at TSE had the pleasure to host associate professor Lina Daouk-Öyry from BI business school in Norway at our research seminar.

In the seminar, Daouk-Öyry presented her project REMAP: Rethinking, Revamping, and Remapping Research for Societal Impact drawing on her personal research journey and connecting it to the wider conversation around widening academic societal impact. Specifically, she explored the concept of “contextual embeddedness” as a research strategy for driving research with societal impact. The discussion shed light on different strategies academics can employ to increase the societal impact of their research beyond the confines of traditional academia. Critical to this conversation were exploring the disconnect between neoliberal academic models and society, and the need to include global conversations and address pressing societal challenges in business research.

Lina Daouk-Öyry is an Associate Professor of Organizational Psychology at BI Norwegian School of Business. Her interdisciplinary and translational approach to research focuses on collaborating with researchers and practitioners across scientific disciplines to ensure the applicability of research in practice.

Thank you very much for sharing your ideas on how we could increase our societal impact and the REMAP project - a very inspiring discussion and a lot of food for thought!
