OCEANAut seeks a Visiting Scientist in memristor modelling and neuromorphic electronics

02.10.2026

The University of Turku’s Memristors & Neuromorphic Computing Group invites applications from experienced researchers and senior industry specialists for the OCEANAut Visiting Scientist Programme. Applications close on 15 November 2026.

OCEANAut, funded by Business Finland, develops memristive devices and neuromorphic hardware for energy-efficient sensing and autonomous systems. The programme offers an opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team connecting materials science, device physics and circuit engineering.

The group seeks a Visiting Scientist with expertise in memristor compact or behavioural modelling, electrical characterization, device reliability and device-to-circuit integration. Experience with SPICE, Verilog-A, memristor circuit electronics, physical reservoir computing or other dynamical neuromorphic systems is particularly relevant.

The visitor will help translate experimental GCMO device behaviour into validated engineering models, characterization workflows and practical circuit-level design guidance. Expected contributions include reusable methods and tools, technical documentation and training for the research team. Direct experience with GCMO is advantageous, but researchers with transferable expertise in other memristive technologies are welcome.

Research visits of one to six months

Visits will last between one and six months and take place primarily in Turku. Starting dates will be agreed individually from late 2026 through the first half of 2027.

Suitable applicants include experienced postdoctoral researchers, senior research fellows, university faculty members and senior industry R&D specialists. Selection will consider scientific and technical expertise, the relevance and feasibility of the proposed collaboration, and the ability to transfer expertise to the team.

The programme is a visiting-researcher arrangement without an employment relationship with the University of Turku. Any financial support will be agreed individually, subject to University rules and available project resources.

Apply by 15 November 2026

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae of no more than three pages and a collaboration plan of no more than two pages, together with examples of relevant outputs and their preferred visit dates.

The application deadline is 15 November 2026 at 23:59 Helsinki time (UTC+2).
