University Follows THL’s Recommendation, Short-term International Student Exchanges Are Not Organised for Time Being

03.02.2021

The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare THL issued a recommendation on 2 February that higher education institutions should stop all short-term international student exchanges from abroad to Finland and from Finland to abroad. The University of Turku follows THL’s recommendation.

The recommendation applies to new student exchanges from now on. Short-term student exchanges refer to, for example, short intensive courses lasting for a few weeks, language and culture exchanges, and other exchanges that are shorter than a semester.

During the spring, there will be no short-term international student exchanges to or from the University of Turku. The policy also applies to short-term international internships.

The University of Turku actively follows authorities’ instructions and, if necessary, reviews the situation before possible exchanges or visits during the summer.
