The University of Turku ranked among the top 1.9% of the world’s universities in the 2025 Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). The ranking included 21,462 universities, of which 2,000 were listed in the final results.
The CWUR ranking assesses universities across four key areas: the quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, and research performance. The evaluation is carried out without surveys or data submissions from the universities.
The University of Turku was ranked 394th and placed third among Finnish universities, following the University of Helsinki (127th) and Aalto University (352nd). In total, ten Finnish universities were included in this year’s ranking. Among European universities, the University of Turku was ranked 154th.
As in previous years, the top three positions globally were held by Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University.
CWUR has been publishing university rankings since 2012. While the initial comparison covered only the top 100 universities, it now ranks over 2,000 institutions from more than 20,000 universities worldwide.
