University of Turku participates in the Climate Changemakers campaign – climate goals are achieved together in Turku

The Climate Changemakers is a joint communication campaign of the City of Turku and its Climate City Contract partners, which aims to make the climate work in the Turku region visible.

Vice Rector Maija S. Peltola is the representative of the University of Turku in the Climate Changemakers campaign.

“Working together and breaking down barriers is crucial. Universities also need partners to ensure that research results are put into practice and that the right people find the right jobs.”

The City of Turku aims to be carbon neutral by 2029, and the climate partners are contributing to this work.

“I believe that in 2029 Turku will be a vibrant and sustainable European climate city. Solutions to climate issues have been found together. However, neither the world nor Turku is ever truly complete, which is why continuous collaboration on development and renewal is important," says Peltola.
