Funding was applied for three new profiling areas, which explore the digitisation of cultural heritage, northern food, and the digital and green transition in the water sector.

The Research Council of Finland has granted €5.655 million to the University of Turku to strengthen its strategic profile in the Profi 8 call. The international panel of experts found the University's strong and clear application to be convincing and linked to the University's strategic objectives.

“This round featured once again three research areas of high scientific quality and interest. It takes a great deal of hard work to secure this funding, and I would like to thank everyone involved in the process for their contributions,” says rector Marjo Kaartinen

For the funding period 2025–2030, the University of Turku applied for three new profiling areas that reinforce the multidisciplinary themes and areas of strength in the University's strategy.
