University of Turku Updates Instructions on Coronavirus Situation

The University's instructions on the coronavirus situation have been updated. The University urges to avoid meetings and gatherings on campus. The maximum number of people in individual indoor spaces and events organised indoors is 10 people. In events organised outdoors, the maximum number of participants is 20. Face masks are always used in the University’s facilities, unless the person is alone in the space.

The University of Turku actively follows the coronavirus situation and updates its instructions in accordance with the authorities’ instructions and recommendation. The University tightens its instructions in accordance with the recommendations given by the coronavirus coordination group of Southwest Finland and the Regional State Administrative Agency at the beginning of December.

The University’s instructions come into force on 3 December 2020 and remain in force until 23 December 2020.

According to the updated instructions, all gatherings should be avoided on campus. The maximum number of people in individual indoor spaces and events organised indoors is 10 people. In events organised outdoors, the maximum number of participants is 20. The maximum number of people also applies to the doctoral dissertation defences organised on campus.

The University personnel are urged to work mainly remotely.

Students study mainly with remote connections. In small group contact teaching, the maximum limit of participants is 10 people. The current contact teaching with a maximum number of 20 people can be completed by observing safety measures. The use of Exam rooms and group work spaces is restricted.
Due to the current coronavirus epidemic, the recommendation on using face masks is applied on all the campuses and units of the University of Turku. Face masks are always used in the University’s facilities, unless the person is alone in the space.
