The Hospital District of Southwest Finland, the University of Turku, Åbo Akademi University, Turku University of Applied Sciences and Novia University of Applied Sciences have made an agreement on developing the campus area around Turku University Hospital. The development is carried out, for example, in research and education under the University Health Campus Turku brand.

Turku PET Centre is taking a giant leap into a new era. The Centre has purchased a new cyclotron and now it can produce radioactive isotopes much faster than before. Now, Turku is climbing to the top in positron emission tomography (PET) on a worldwide scale.

This autumn the University of Turku has welcomed two students, Daniel Ndongo from the University of Namibia and Emmanuel Makwaiba from the University of Western Cape, South Africa, for a 4-month exchange period funded by the Brian O’Connell Scholarship Programme. A research project of the Department of Teacher Education, "Enhancing learning and teaching for future competences of online inquiry in multiple domains" (iFuCo), has received funding from the Academy of Finland. The funding period is 2016-2018.
